Failure-to-Deliver Tracker — cross-reference short volume with FTD data for maximum conviction

Methodology

Short Volume: Daily short volume data from FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority). Short volume ratio = short volume / total volume for each trading day. We track the latest available day for each ticker in our watchlist. SV above 50% indicates more shares were sold short than bought on that day.

Short Interest: Bi-monthly settlement data from FINRA. Shows total outstanding short positions as of settlement date. Days-to-cover calculated using 20-day average volume. Updated twice monthly with a ~10 business day lag.

High short volume combined with low share availability and rising prices creates "squeeze" conditions where short sellers face margin calls and must buy shares at any price, creating explosive upward pressure.
